Jon
Probst Pro-Lite Battles Largest Field in Pro-Lite History
New Lenox, IL (November 8, 2007) – Probst Motorsports, thanks to the
support of UWELD Components, made the tow to Primm, Nevada with the
team’s Pro-Lite Nissan Frontier. The driver Jon Probst was looking to
gain valuable experience in the most competitive division in
professional short course off-road racing, as well as promote the
team’s season ending sponsor UWELD.
The track at Las Vegas International Off-Road Raceway gave CORR
competitors new challenges including a huge table top, a serious
section of whoops through the infield, and a step up jump at the end
of the front straightaway. The four turns on the track were all
different in size, had CORR’s signature banking allowing for non-stop
action.
The transporter carrying the race truck arrived late of Friday,
causing Jon Probst to miss the first two practice sessions and the
qualifying session. Undaunted Jon, along with the crew from Probst
Motorsports, Kevin, Woody, Tim and Steve, prepped the truck and had
Jon out for the final practice session Saturday morning.
Saturday - Round 15
The twenty six truck field had Jon Probst and his #5 UWELD Fox Shox
Toyo Tires Nissan Frontier starting in row thirteen. With Kevin, his
uncle, on the radio, the #5 UWELD Nissan went to work. Every lap saw
Jon getting more comfortable with the track. At the mandatory caution,
Jon made moved up eleven positions into fifteen place. The final six
laps the UWELD Nissan continued to impress as Jon picked up three more
positions to finish in twelfth place.
“I think for not having much practice on the track, we came out
alright today,” commented Jon Probst. “The Toyo Tires really put the
Nissan power to the ground. It’s amazing how rough turn four got as
the run went on. The Fox Shox took everything the track threw at the
truck. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s race.”
Sunday – Round 16
The morning qualifying session put Jon Probst, seventeen on the
starting grid.
The day ended for Jon at the starting grid. The truck would not fire
when it was time for the PRO-Lite to leave the staging area.
Unfortunately the team didn’t have enough time to correct the problem
and get the UWELD Nissan on the starting grid. Back at the pits, a
defective alternator had run down the charging system, not allowing
the engine to fire.
“With the better starting position, I hoped we could run closer to the
front today,” commented Jon Probst. “We came out here without all our
spares and it bit us. We did accomplish the other goal the team had
this weekend. We put the UWELD name and product front and center on
the West Coast. Thanks again to Rick Snell and Erik Shallbetter for
giving us the opportunity to race and to represent their company.”
The team would like to say thank you to all the fans and supporters
who came to see us all season and helped us make the 2007 season a
good and fun season. We are looking forward to 2008 and beyond with
all our sponsors and friends.
See you in 2008!
