Probst
Team - Brutal tracks in Utah and Glen Helen!
-
Rounds 7-10 plus display activites
-
Kevin
Probst and the Probst Motorsports #9 E3 Spark Plugs Lucas Oil
Unlimited 2 team have been to three events since the last
update. It has been very busy with more to come over the next
5 weeks.
Utah
-
The Miller
Motorsports facility was a nice facility with an off road
track built inside the road course. It was Challenging and
very hard on equipment. The weekend started with the first
practice and Kevin was the first pro 2 to actually try to take
the massive mogul section at speed. That was not a good idea.
The truck stopped dead in the track after hittng the first
mogul. The bumps in this mogul section were around 3 feet
high. The truck sustained massive damage from the hit and was
sidelined for the remaining practices by the damage until the
team replaced all the front suspension. Subsequent damage from
this first practice saw the transmission break in half, the
underdrive shatter, the rear driveshaft rip out, and the rear
end axle break in two
-
spots.
-

-
Round 7
-
The team
played catch up all weekend and the #9 started the race in the
rear for round 7 due to the damages during qualify session.
Kevin made it to the yellow mandatory caution in 12th spot,
and at the restart made it up to 6th after the maylay of
trucks crashing and burning only to have the rear axle shatter
ending the run.
-
-
Round 8
-
Qualifying
was similar to the day before, Kevin started 11th.. The truck
was working better but something was wrong. "We just could not
get a run out of the corners", Kevin said during an interview.
We found later the underdrive problem that caused much of the
speed to be limited. Kevin made his way up to 4th when contact
caused a flat front tire with the #9 finishing the day 8th.
Glen
Helen
-
The track
was short and technical. .8 miles long and 45 second laps.
Kevin was struggling with hookup all weekend, but the truck
was handling better after changes made to the track rods and
tire grooves.

-
Round 9
-
Saturday,
saw Kevin starting in the #16 spot on the grid. "I could not
get grip and move out of my own way!" said Kevin. The forward
bite was bad due to the fact that the moisture from the track
came out at the late night start time. The groove the team
picked did not work at all compared to the day groove. We made
some major changes to the truck for Round 10 Sunday night.
-
-
Round 10
-
Kevin was
15th on the grid due to the finish from round 9. At the start,
the #9 move up quickly. During the first lap, Kevin went from
15th to 8th and got collected in a red flag rollover through
the moguls. The #9 made one more lap and pulled to the
infield. The race was in red flag status. The tow truck
managed to get the #9 to the pits. The team realized that we
could get back out on the track for points. When we were able
to work on the truck, we changed an upper arm on the front
suspension. #9 was back in the race 3 laps down. We made laps
to get as many points as possible, and found out that the
truck was really fast with all the changes made from round 9.
Another part failed from the initial contact that put on the
trailer.
